Views From the Pond: November and December 2024/January 2025

Somehow I missed putting up my last View From the Pond post to wrap up 2024. So that means it will be a long post- covering 3 months. I hope to get back on my blog schedule now that 2025 is in full swing. The start of the year has been busy and I am thankful to have a peaceful spot to enjoy and relax me. Although I don't like getting behind on my blogging- I did have a great time revisiting the fall and the beginning of winter.

In November we were still experiencing a drought. The leaves that were left were still bright and bold- but the pond was getting drier by the day! December brought cold temperatures and snow. January was colder still! Loved seeing how the sunlight changed with each setting!

November 2024

A hawk hunting for food.

Pond getting shallow!

Love the pops of read and orange!

Lots of leaves had fallen already.

A few reflections to be seen.

Almost dried up near the brook.

Light and shadows.

Morning light.

So dry!

Still able to catch a reflection.

Still an inch of water deep on this side of the pond- yay for the reflections!

Sunset off to the side of the pond and house!

December 2024

After some much needed rain the temperatures plummeted. Some ice on the water!

Holiday lights up!

Snow- brrr!

Icy reflections!

Love the shadow and light in the morning.

Icy images!

A misty and foggy evening with holiday lights around- love the colors.

A fox trotting across the yard. Right before this I saw a momma bobcat and her two babies. So cute!

January 2025-Happy New Year!

Magical night views.

Sparkly, snowy morning- hard to leave for work!

A cloudy but bright night.

Getting in the car to leave for work- so thankful for this view.

A starry evening.

Can you see the deer? I get to watch a group of deer most mornings. So fun to watch them.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoying some views of my pond with me. It was fun looking back at the fall and early winter. I am definitely happy those cold temperatures are mostly in the past! I look forward to updating you on more recent views sooner, rather than later!

Artwork & video by Jess Haight

Below are a few pieces I've completed this past year; 11"x14" acrylic paintings on wood canvas board. Can you answer the riddles to guess which paintings they are? 😀

1. Colors swirl, float and pop. I drift nicely, then do drop. Giggles heard in my wake, I'm so easy for you to make. Suds it up, spin and chase. I'll put a smile on your face.

What am I?

The painting is the clue!

2. From afar I shall glow, soaring in a shining bow. A tail follows me behind. I'm a cosmic sort of find. I pass in fire, then burn out. A sign for those who have no doubt.

What am I?

The painting is the clue!

3. Secret person at a ball, could be anyone at all. Hidden face? Mysterious! Who could be so curious?

What am I referring to?

The picture is the clue!

Colors casting lines will whisk you off into ethereal realms of insight. Peep at those faces coming through. If you see them, they see you. 👀

Two of my paintings were included in the Magic Mural art wall in Hartford, CT. The event featured artwork from over 100 artists located around the world, the art displayed with lasers on the side of the Frontier building. It was a fantastic event with creative festivities, and an awesome merry-go-round. Stephanie and I had a blast, and it was cool to see the variety of colorful art presented. Rise Up Group and CT Murals organized this unique event, and I was honored to have my artwork be a part of the Magic Mural.

Below is a video of the full Magic Mural presentation
