Monday's Riddle: A Long, Long Time Ago...

Hello, Riddlers! Can you guess our theme this week. I'm glad they're not around anymore, but they were fascinating! ; ) ~ F

Long gone, now bones in rocks. Terrestrial beings with scaly hocks. We ruled this land, then up and went; our lives cut short by what was sent. Showing in size, scale, and strength, with teeth and points, claws and length. We managed okay for millions of years; thoughts expanded, replacing fears. The mind's evolved and laid us to rest, but there was a time when we were the best.

What are we?

    Dinosaurs? OR Thinking of 'our lives cut short by what was sent' I'm thinking of the ice age and woolly mammoths.

    I'd go with some kind of dinosaur because of the 'scaly hocks'. I love these riddles :)

    I know this must be dinosaurs - I recognize the bone. My dad worked at the Museum of Natural History and was totally involved in the dino display there when they first did it.

    Fossils in general, but certainly there's going to be dinosaurs there. The news is full of new fossil finds these days. Very exciting.

    Hi Jess - I'd say dinosaurs too .. but woolly mammoths sounds a good idea - but I don't think they had scales ... we had them here ... and yes as Lee says - we have had lots of fossil finds recently - also down here! Cheers Hilary
