We are excited about this particular hop because it's such fun to share a great new voice that pops up among the many wonderful story tellers out there. We were lucky enough to stumble upon the middle grade novel, The Other Slipper by Kenechi Udogu. The story inspired our theme this week; classic tales told from a different point of view. We very much enjoyed this new book and hope you like it too! Read our review

Another wonderful author that we have discovered is R.J. Palacio. Her middle grade novel, Wonder, is absolutely spectacular. It is a story everyone can connect to and a book that you will want to chat about with your friends. Auggie's tale is masterfully crafted, and the writing is perfectly paced. We are excited to spotlight this book once again and then give it away, helping to spread the good word. Happy reading! Read our review

The Begonia House keeps its secrets. Everyone knows that. Everyone, that is, except for clever eleven-year-old Fairday Morrow, whose family has just moved in. Being the Senior Investigator in the Detective Mystery Squad, more commonly known as the DMS, she’s ready to uncover the mysteries hidden within the strange manor. As the investigation gears up and the pieces of the puzzle begin to fall into place, the DMS enters into a world where anything is possible, and the danger is most definitely real. Follow along with Fairday and her friends, as spooky meets lovely in this twisting tale of dark secrets and hidden pasts.
Fairday's Riddles are posted on Mondays- they can be written about anything, and everything, all at the same time : )
Lizzy's Book Reviews are posted on Wednesdays. Lizzy has read just about every middle grade novel out there, and she loves to share her thoughts and, of course, her opinions.
The Top of the Heap is a post we put up on Thursdays. We thought it would be fun once a week to put up two things that we appreciate and have been thinking about during the week. I enjoy doing this post because I love the google hunt for the perfect image to accompany the topic of discussion.
Margo's Musings Fridays belong to Margo, Fairday's little sister. This post focuses on reviewing local children's book authors, which we follow up with an Author Interview.
The DMS Wants to Know was a post we came up with for Saturdays because when we get together to hang out on the weekend, we always chat about different situations and ideas that are floating around in our brains and we like to listen to what other people think about them- some of the comments we've gotten have been absolutely fascinating! We'd love to hear yours!

ReplyDeleteHow exciting. If not through the eyes of our cats, I'd love to know what our 18 month old great-nephew makes of my day as he often stops what he is doing to look at me with such a puzzled expression on his face.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see through my husbands eyes, I mean what does he think I do all day with 5 kids, 2 grandkids, and 3 dogs. Lol
ReplyDeleteHmm...it would have to be from my friend Michelle...not only would it be honest, it would DEFINITELY be interesting no matter how mundane it seemed to me. ^_^
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance! Happy reading...
My cat thinks she is me so looking at life from her eyes would be quite interesting...I love the new author idea!
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to see my day from my fish's point of view. I wonder what he thinks I am doing!
ReplyDeleteI'd love a bird's eye view of things, maybe one of the red tailed hawks that fly over my garden. Sometimes they sweep so low I can hear the wind ruffling their feathers, and they always seem so purposeful. Yes, the world as seen through the eyes of a hawk hunting would be my choice.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Appreciate your offer of support over at The Write Game. Can we connect and set up something for August? cleemckenziebooksATcomcastDOTnet.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.

The books sound great!!! I think I'd like to see from my 5-year-olds POV. Maybe help understand him a little better!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great question! I'd like to get into the mind of my fifty six year old, mentally challenged aunt, so that I understand what life is like for her. I'm sometimes more impatient with her than I should be (and can barely help it), so seeing things from her point of view will only help me be more compassionate toward her.
I would like to see things from my teacher's POV. I always wonder what they can and cannot see in the classroom. lol. Plus I could eat in the teachers room.
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to be able to read the first seven chapters. It's really good! This is a nice give-away too.
ReplyDeleteI'd choose to see things from my little sister's point of view. Thanks so much!

My 12 yr old son thinks when I give him a chore like picking up his shoes and putting them away that I'm getting him to do my job. So I'd like to see my life from his point of view just to have a little understanding of what the bleep he's thinking!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Heather
Hmm, I would probably want to see things from my mom's POV, I never really understood her way of thinking haha

book nook girl and great question, I hadn't given that much thought. I think maybe my parents or friends although I respect their privacy ^.^
ReplyDeleteI think I would want to see it from my dog's view point. His name is Minion and I'm sure his take would find me in hilarious moments more often than my own. :)
ReplyDeleteGFC? Not sure what that is??? I'm really Terri Rochenski, though. hehehe
ReplyDeleteI would want to see me from my 2 yr old's point of view. Sometimes I really wonder what the heck she's thinking behind those twinkly brown eyes.
I would love to see me through my friend's POV. :)) Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

This is a wonderful idea. I absolutely love your blog! It's a lot of fun and I can't wait for future posts. The riddles are particularly clever.
