Hello, Riddlers! Can you guess our theme this week? They are beautiful, sensitive and thoughtful, just like us, and I wish for them to be free. ; ) ~ F
I'm alive, and just like you. My face is different, and my body too. Inside I'm the same, almost 99%; I thrive in the wild, not where I'm sent. I come from Africa's high and low; my kin stays together wherever we go. The males branch out to seek their own group, but the rest stay together, safe in our troop. I like to keep clean and bond when I groom, my mates talk and play in nature's full room. I'm related to humans by ancestral tie, but they don't see truth, they only ask why. Keeping me separate as the star of a show, leading me on or making me go, chaining me up, they hurt me so, their behavior has been exceedingly low. My wish is for them to hear this and know, now is the time to let us all go. To be free in the world and have peace of mind, this is what I want for my kind.
What am I?
I gave you a clue!

A chimpanzee or gorilla perhaps?
ReplyDeleteHi Jess - Chimpanzees or Gorillas .. be free in the world, sadly we need to regrow their jungles and environment ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHi Jess, I think you're talking about gorillas because unlike chimps, they're sensitive and thoughtful. I must have taken books about Koko out of the library 100 times for my kids when they were little. We have treated gorillas shamefully.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say Chimpanzees.
ReplyDeleteI think it might be gorillas but then again it could be monkeys or chimpanzees so I will say primates.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing gorillas. It makes me sad to see them in the zoo.
ReplyDeleteA gorilla.
ReplyDeleteThe pic gave it away ;-)
Gorillas, monkeys or chimps
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was a monkey, hih, though I didn't get it at first :) But which kind, I do not know.. But yes, monkey either way ;p But aw. This riddle is kind of sad :( But I love it. Thank you for sharing. <3

ReplyDeleteA gorilla?
ReplyDeleteChimpanzees are the most closely related to us, but it could be a gorilla too.
ReplyDeleteA very sad riddle today. We really need to remember that the world wasn't put here for just our benefit and amusement...
I'm guessing gorilla, but am not sure. And so true that the world is not here just for us.
ReplyDeleteA gorilla or chimpanzee, and yes so wish deforestation wasn't pushing them away from their homes.
ReplyDeleteI am going to guess a gorilla... I think :-)
ReplyDeleteI see a monkey. Especially one on a chain taking coins from people.
ReplyDeleteWell it is either the Chimpanzee or the gorilla and I shall say...Gorilla
ReplyDeleteA primate to be safe. :P
ReplyDeleteMonkeys! Many many monkeys!
ReplyDeleteGorillas...but there's also a huge push with elephants now. Good post. We need to spread the word.

ReplyDeleteThis reminded me of The One and Only Ivan, which would mean you're probably talking about gorillas. But then again, isn't the chimpanzee our closest relative?
ReplyDeleteMade me think of Dian Fossey - so gorillas is my guess :)
ReplyDeleteThat is totally a chimp. Or a bonobo, but they are patrilocal :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going with chimp.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was a gorilla.
ReplyDeleteMonkeys!
ReplyDeleteSome sort of ape, gorilla, chimp...
