The DMS Wants to Know!

Monday's Riddle talked of war and peace, and Lizzy's review of Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai was a journey into life. Friday on Margo's Musings, we spotlighted the unique story Martin's Big Words written by Doreen Rappaport and illustrated by Bryan CollierToday, we want to hear from you!

The DMS wants to know: What are some signs of peace and kindness that you've noticed on the horizon? How have they impacted you?

  1. What a good question! I'm trying to think of something, and the only thing that's popping to mind is the upcoming Olympics, which are generally pretty good for building awareness and acceptance between nations. (Though I won't get into certain issues with Russia...) Plus they're always fun to watch!

  2. I agree with Meradeth - this is a good question! I think she's also right about the Olympics. It seems people do come together for them and put aside differences, at least for a time. Looking forward to watching them.

  4. When I participate in social media and interact with people from different countries, there's a sense of togetherness. I also enjoy random acts of kindness.

    1. Great answer, Medeia! Social media is an excellent example of togetherness across the globe. Random acts of kindness are the best. :) ~L

  5. I'm pretty pessimistic about this. I think it's human nature to be greedy and self-centered, and I'm constantly surprised by the determination of some people to remain ignorant about truth and the bad consequences of their actions. We're pretty insulated in our writing community -- we're well educated and tolerant of others. But considering the population at large, we're in the minority.

    1. Lexa- As we look around we can definitely see that people are different, but hopefully through our acts of kindness and acceptance we will bring others along with us on this path. :) ~L

  6. sadly I do not think the Olympics is a good sign of peace and togetherness. Unfortunately a few blocks away from the million-dollar stadium people are starving to death and dying from medical issues that are easily cured with antibiotics or simple medical care. Sadly they seems to be the case in many of the places that major sporting events are taking place in lately. That's just me being pessimistic I suppose. Other than that I think that blogging in general is a good thing. A give me and others a chance to meet people from all places into share ideas.

    1. Bellas- It breaks my heart to know that people are starving to death, and they aren't getting the medical attention they need. :( So sad!

I agree that the blogging community is wonderful and I love meeting people from all over the world. :) ~L

  8. Hmm, good question and one I'll have to think about.

Re: The Olympics...... I'm afraid the jury is also out on this as well. I'd love to be more positive but am worried about the press coverage the event has been getting and am quite frankly outraged by the announcement that Gay people ARE welcome so long as they stay away from children.

    1. Tracy- I hope the Olympics will turn out to be uneventful (except for the athletic events which are supposed to be eventful). I am hoping we see more openmindednessand acceptance of others too! :) ~L
