The DMS Wants to Know!

Monday's Riddle inspired our spirits this week, and we've been on the topic of ghosts. Lizzy's review of Scary School by Derek the Ghost took us on a thrilling tour of a monstrous school. Thursday on Top of the Heap, we told you about a couple of our own haunting stories, and Friday, Margo's Musings swept us right up into The Witches' Supermarket by Susan Meddaugh.

Swapping ghost stories among friends is such a timeless event, and it will always be a part of the mystery of being human. We enjoyed sharing our thoughts on this spooky subject. Today, we want to hear from you!

The DMS wants to know: Have you ever had a ghostly experience?
What happened?

We told your ours. Now, let's hear yours!

  1. Thankfully, we haven't been visited by any ghosties... and we hope we never get a visit. *cowers in fear* We always love hearing stories from others and then sleeping with the light on for a few nights, though! What a great and fun week at the DMS Files. Thank you ladies for all your wonderful posts! ~Cheles and Katertot <3

  2. The last house we lived in (just outside Dublin) was very old. When we first moved in there were all sorts of unexplained bumps and thumps and one night my son's guitar started 'playing' even though no one was in the room. I decided the house must be haunted but after a while the strange 'activity' quietened down so I figured the ghost must be happy with the way we were looking after the place. When we left I felt quite sad - it was a bit like leaving a pet behind!

    1. Hi Sharon, I always envisioned that a spirit that would haunt me, would hopefully like me : ) I love that you thought of it as a pet- lol! Thanks so much for sharing your story with us! ~ F

  3. Just one. Came home late one night to my apartment (many, many years ago) and as I inserted the key into the lock, there was a loud pounding on the other side. When I finally went inside, no one was there. Very freaky.

  4. The closest I've come to any spirits is during a ghost tour in Gettysburg. My digital camera captured lots of orbs, and more showed up on the photos after I got home!

    1. Hi Cate, Aren't they so fascinating in pictures? I think of them as spirit bubbles : ) ~ F

  5. Growing up we always said we had a ghost living in our attic because things would turn up in different places. I remember leaving my room and coming back to find the two things on my desk in reversed order. It was so weird.

  6. When I was nine, I woke up in the middle of the night and heard this strange soft growling. I was certain it was some creepy thing or an ROUS (from Princess Bride), and I was totally freaked out. Until...I discovered it was my baby sister softly snoring in her crib nearby. *sigh* I can't tell you how relieved I felt. :0)

  7. I don't know if this counts: a few years after my dad passed away, I was home alone and suddenly I felt someone's hand on my shoulder, the way you do it to reassure someone. When I looked around, no one was there. My mom thought it was my dad telling me everything was OK. Who knows?

  9. I've had several, but you know, I just don't talk about them. Do I believe in Earth bound spirits? I do for sure!

  10. In 9th grade I got to my sisters apt after watching the Exorcist , when I went to turn the lights on the light popped...I screamed for 10 straight minutes.

  11. Yep! However, I don't tell people I live in a house with a ghost because they either won't visit or they consider committing me.
