Margo's Musings: My Clearest Me by Claudine Gueh Yanting, Claudine

"Explore, enjoy embrace... The world will hear your clearest you."

Recently, I read My Clearest Me by Gueh Yanting, Claudine to my little sister, Margo. This beautifully written and illustrated children's book flows like water as you follow along with little Wynn on his journey to find himself in this ever shifting world. I thought this story was absolutely wonderful, and Margo has been contemplating herself since we finished reading it- she's been purposefully stating to everyone who crosses her path that she's really a firecracker : ) Wynn's story touches a place inside that is so often overlooked and forgotten, but it's the most important part of us all. It made me wonder about myself, which was exceptionally fun and enlightening! The DMS was lucky enough to interview Geuh Yanting, Claudine, so be sure to check back Friday, April 20th to learn more about this brilliant, new author.

In this moment, who is your clearest you?

Am I supposed to be the kind of boy I've never been?

When Wynn overhears his teacher saying that

     1) he is very quiet,
     2) so he might have no friends,
     3) and might let Dreams pass,

the six-year-old wonders if he ought to be a different boy to fit the crowd. A story about self-discovery and personal heroism told through original rhymes and brilliant paintings.

  6. I've heard of Gueh Yanting. This sounds like a great book for children who so often wonder who they're supposed to be and if they're supposed to be who their parents say they should be. I love the cover.

  8. I love it when kids really connect to a book and it makes them examine the world, or themselves, in a different way.
