Top of the Heap! St. Patty's Day!

So, we are shouting out to St. Patty's Day this week and hoping to catch a little bit of luck! Nothing is more fun than the ruckus of Saint Patrick's Day. Here's to the luck of the Irish! Not to mention the fabulous music, fun and dancing, and all the rainbows, green, and gold : )

This week's Top of the Heap:
Best things about St. Patty's Day!

~ March 17, people all over the world will be joining with the Irish to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, to honor Patrick, Ireland's patron saint. Though originally a Catholic holy day, St. Patrick's Day has evolved into more of a secular holiday. The first Irish celebrations on the date of St. Patrick's death were noisy affairs. As the Irish emigrated around the world, they took the St. Pat's celebration with them, and today parades are held in some of the unlikeliest places you can imagine. The St. Patrick's Day custom came to America in 1737. That was the first year St. Patrick's Day was publicly celebrated in this country, in Boston. Cities like New York and Boston will have large parades in which shamrocks, leprechauns, and the color green will predominate. Chicago will even dye its river green. No matter where you are, on Saint Patty's Day you will see the color green worn more than on any other day of the year. The "wearing of the green," the national color of Ireland, has become a way for people anywhere in the world to connect with Ireland ~

I have to shout out to the Leprechaun! I just love those little devils : ) ~ F

** You may end up being the luckiest person alive if you ever manage to catch a Leprechaun but there again it could bring more than enough trouble for what its worth.
A Leprechaun is a smart, devious little thing who’ll do anything to escape capture even if it means turning you into a frog.  They are the exception in the Faerie realm, as they are the only Faerie that has a trade other than cattle trading. They are shoe-makers **
The color green!  I love green and St. Patrick's Day is all about the wearing of green and eating shamrock colored foods. I usually start off the day with a green bagel and grass colored milk.  :)   It is so fun to be festive for a day and looking out at all of the shades of green makes me ready for the Spring! ~ L

Green contains the powerful energies of nature, growth, desire to expand or increase. Balance and a sense of order are found in the color green. Change and transformation is necessary for growth, and so this ability to sustain changes is also a part of the energy of green.

  4. We were visiting Australia last year and ended up in Melbourne on St. Patrick's Day. It was fantastic! The streets were decorated in green and everyone we met either had a great big green hat or was dressed in green from head to toe. The best thing was that everyone was so happy, lovely day – wish we could go back.
