Monday's Riddle! A Playful Terror...

One of my fav's! Happy Monday! ~ F

I can scare- that's my pitch. I'll make you cry, scream and twitch. Shake with fear, should I come near- I'll eat you up, I'll howl and leer. Gnashing teeth and grimy toes, claws and feet to rip your bones. Sometimes, though, I'm not as dark, and I wish I could have a friend or a lark. A chat would be nice, maybe some tea; a song or a joke would satisfy me. For though I may be ugly or scary or mean, when I'm not hungry, I can be quite serene.

What am I?

    I'm with Patty. Could we go back to those easy ones again? I feel so "schmart" when I get at least one of these a month.
