It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is a tradition for my family. It's always fun to catch up with the Peanuts gang. Even though I know how it will end, I always secretly hope that things will turn out differently. My heart goes out to Charlie Brown for all the rocks he receives. Whoever heard of people passing out rocks instead of candy? I also admire Linus for his strong belief in The Great Pumpkin, even when others made fun of him. I think many of us can see a little of ourselves in each of the characters. With so many scary movies out this time of year, this is one that puts me in the mood to put on my costume and go door to door for candy. I just hope I don’t get any rocks!

What a great tradition. I used to love watching this as a kid.
ReplyDeleteNatalie- Traditions are such fun. :) ~L
DeleteI have no idea how many times I've watched this classic...first with my kids and then with my grandchildren. Hopefully I'll get to watch it with my new great-grandson in a few years. It's a fun tradition.
ReplyDeleteAnna- I think it is wonderful that you have shared this movie with so many people in your family and I hope you get to watch it with your new great-grandson soon. :) ~L
DeleteWe always watched it. You're right - so many scary movies are out or on TV and it is a nice relief from all that, especially if even the commericals for scary movies bother kids. There's no one like Linus to remind us of what is good in the world.
ReplyDeleteAlex- I love Linus! :) A welcome breather from all that is scary. :) ~L
DeleteOh yes, it's great! I watched it many times with my children and now have grandchildren to enjoy it. I never get tired of the Peanuts characters!
ReplyDeleteConnie- I never get tired of them either. :) ~L
DeleteNever particularly popular here in the UK. I only have vague recollections of the Peanuts series, and none of the Giant Pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteTracy- How interesting! Maybe one day you will watch it and it will be interesting to see what you think. :) ~L
DeleteI love Charlie Brown! I don't know if I've seen this one, which is awful to say, but if I have, it's been awhile. I LOVE the Christmas movie though.
ReplyDeleteShooting Stars Mag- I love the Christmas movie too. If you haven't seen this one- then you should definitely check it out. :) ~L
DeleteI haven't seen the Halloween Charlie Brown in years! I always liked the Christmas one though. Giving out candy instead of rocks? Did they get their holidays confused?
ReplyDeleteMolly- Watching this one will definitely put you in the Halloween spirit. :) ~L
DeleteThat is a nice tradition. I haven't watched it in years. Maybe I'll treat myself to a viewing this year. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteRosi- I think it is a great tradition too. I hope you got to watch it this year. If not- maybe next Halloween. :) ~L
DeleteI love the Great Pumpkin and Linus's determination. Some day the Great Pumpkin WILL come!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLexa- I think his determination is fabulous! :) ~L
DeleteI haven't seen this movie in ages! Hmm, might have to break it out for this Friday :) It's a great one!
ReplyDeleteMeradeth- A perfect movie for Halloween. :) ~L
DeleteI’ve seen some of the peanuts cartoons on TV but hadn’t heard about the Great Pumpkin until I read about it on your blog. I really enjoyed watching Linus explaining it.
ReplyDeleteBarbara- Glad to have introduced you to this Peanuts movie. :) I am happy you enjoyed listening to Linus. ~L
DeleteI love The Great Pumpkin. It's a classic. :)
ReplyDeleteKelly- Totally! :) ~L
DeleteI haven't seen this one in a few years. Maybe I'll watch it tomorrow night. Love your tradition.
ReplyDeleteTBM- If you haven't seen it in a few year, then rewatching it will be perfect this time of year. :) ~L
DeleteI love this episode, and the Hubs and I quote from it all the time!
ReplyDeleteKimba- How cool that you and your husband quote from this movie all the time! Awesome! :) ~L
DeleteI know it's a classic, but I've never watched it.
ReplyDeleteVanessa- Maybe one day. :) ~L
DeleteWhat a classic! I love Linus's line about the GP only appearing in the pumpkin patch that is "most sincere." I'm not sure how one would know a pumpkin patch is sincere but apparently, Linus has a very clear concept!
ReplyDeleteThe Armchair Squid- You are right- Linus has a very clear vision of a sincere pumpkin patch. :) ~L
DeleteI haven't seen this in forever, although I remember watching it all the time as a kid. Now I'm feeling nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteMedeia- I bet if you watch it again it will all come right back to you. :) ~L
DeleteYou know. I don't think I've ever seen this one. But the gang is part of our family traditions at Christmas. Never gets old :)
ReplyDeleteAnna- If you like watching the gang at Christmas then you will also enjoy watching them at Halloween. Maybe next year! :) ~L
