The DMS Wants to Know!
Monday's Riddle set us on track for a bright new beginning this year, and Fairday reviewed the classic middle grade book Ellen Tebbits by Beverly Cleary. Thursday on Top of the Heap, Stephanie and Jess popped by to tell us about their first steps to becoming authors, and don't forget, there's still time to enter the Happy New Year 2013 Book Giveaway Hop- enter for your chance to win a signed hardcover edition of the spooky new middle grade book The Secret DMS Files of Fairday Morrow. This hop runs until Monday, January 7th. Friday, children's illustrator, Barbara McClintock, stopped by to tell us a little more about the story behind the unique children's book Leave Your Sleep by Natalie Merchant. It was truly an honor to get to meet her at the 2012 UCONN Children's Book Fair, and we were happy to be able to share more about her experience as an illustrator with all of you! The Drawing Contest has been extended until February 3rd, 2013. So, if you're feeling inspired, pick up a pencil, and send us your artwork! Today, we want to hear from you!
The DMS wants to know:
What's something new that you hope to begin?
We told you ours! Now, let's hear yours : )

DeleteI love this question, the truth is.....January 1st I wasn't sure of my New Year's resolutions. The normal, get healthy, get organized, and have a more structured schedule. This past week I discovered that those things are just things that come in stride. What I really would like to do.....Is believe in myself, trust in my work, and not worry about opinions just do what I love and that is to write. Write what is in my heart, not what people around me want to see me write. Be who I am on the outside, like I am on the inside as I have always streamed through my fingertips through my laptop. Life is about beginnings, and opening and closing doors. The only one that is in control of my life is me, once I except that then everything will trail forward. So I am living by my own motto, "Never let anyone lead you to believe that you are far too ordinary to be extraordinary." That sums it up, and I shall not hold back. I am going to celebrate my new book releases with a smile and look at it as a chance to rehearse my stories on paper so others have a chance to read my mind. As, I am in hopes of reading many other author's minds as well through their scripted masterpieces.
ReplyDeleteThank you for asking this question, it is always nice to start a fresh new year.
Happy New Year to you,
J.T. Brown

I want to do a collaborative effort with an author friend of mine. I've never done such a thing, aside from just for fun, and really want to. Now it just has to work into both our schedules.
ReplyDeletePaul R. Hewlett
Lionel- I think you will have a lot of fun working with your author friend! Wishing you much success with your goal! ~Stephanie
DeleteI've had a blog break for the past couple of weeks - so its nice to be back and to be starting a fresh new year! I don't think I want to start something new - I have too many half finished projects that I begin with great enthusiasm and then leave dangling when something else comes along. What I'd really like to do is FINISH something - perhaps the book I'm trying to write!
ReplyDeleteSharon- I hope you enjoyed your blog break! It is nice to have you back in the blogging world. :) Finishing projects is an excellent thing to begin in 2013! Wishing you a wonderful 2013 and may you wrap up some of your past projects. :) ~L
DeleteI hope to begin archery. Yep something new for the book blogger. :)

DeleteI'm into clearing up all my old messes: manuscripts that need to be tossed or finished, those two YA's that need to be subbed or pubbed, and my new MG that must find an editor. I hope I can do that before the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteWish me luck.
Lee- It sounds like you will be busy clearing up your messes. :) Wishing you much success and a lot of magic and joy in 2013. ~L
DeleteOops! I meant to say that I met Beverly Cleary in Carmel a few years ago. What a treat that was.
ReplyDeleteLee- You met Beverly Cleary! I am so jealous! I bet it was a treat! ~L
DeleteHmmm...I hope to stop feeling guilty about my reading schedule and learn to let it go and be happy again...someday!
ReplyDeletePatty- I hope you can get rid of the guilt, too! Happy 2013! ~L
