Things aren’t easy for twelve-year-old Kristina Kingsly.
At school she gets picked on for everything she does.
When her teacher gives her a Christmas present on the day before vacation, she has no idea that her life is about to change.
At first she is a little disappointed that her teacher gave her such a strange present, a tarnished silver ball. But, when it suddenly transports her to another world she doesn’t know what to think.
Bernovem isn’t like any place Kristina has ever been. She is amazed by the dwarfs, fairies, and talking animals.
Not long after she arrives she learns that The Book of Prophecy foretold that she would be coming to Bernovem to return the Magic Warble to its rightful spot.
In doing so, peace is supposed to be restored the kingdom and it should stop the reign of the evil Queen Sentiz.
It turns out Kristina is “The Chosen One".
In the instant when Kristina was transported from her house to this strange new land she went from outcast to someone who fits in and is honored by those around her.
Still, her task is not easy. To return the Magic Warble she must overcome obstacles that will put her life in danger, and she and her companions will have to tackle feats that have never been accomplished before. Looper, Clover, and Prince Werrien will take the journey with her, but will they all survive the task?
Is it possible that returning the Magic Warble will really restore peace in Bernovem? Will Kristina ever get home again?
Read this fantastic fantasy to find out!
I just finished reading The Magic Warble by Victoria Simcox and it is a fabulous story. I liked Kristina right away and could relate to her love of sleep and the fact that she often oversleeps and misses the bus. The pace of the story is excellent! The author created a magical new world with creatures that I could easily picture and a storyline that I thought about when I wasn’t reading. I especially liked Kristina and the strength that she shows throughout the book. I would definitely want her on an adventure with me and I liked to see the way she solved problems and treated others. Throughout the book there were drawings to accompany some of the text and they added to my enjoyment of the story. I loved imaging what was happening and the illustrations only made the story better! I think that this book would be great for kids in grades 4-8. Even adults will love it! Anyone that likes a good fantasy story will fall into the pages of this wonderful book and go on a journey that will stay with them after they turn the last page. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, The Black Shard.
Has anyone else read The Magic Warble by Victoria Simcox? Or have you read another book by this author? We would love to hear your thoughts.
Happy
Reading!
