Monday's Riddle opened up the discussion about bullying this week. We spotlighted the incredible and moving story of a unique boy named Auggie in our review of the middle grade novel, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, and on Top of the Heap we shared our best bully put offs from stories that we've read. Today, we want to hear from you! ~ F
The DMS wants to know: What is your favorite bully knock down moment from a story or movie?
We've told you ours, now let's hear yours!
Not really a bully moment, but sort of. When Hermione punched Draco.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
DeleteI love, love, love that moment- one of my favorites too : ) ~ F
I remember how Miss Trunchbull was defeated in Matilda, and that was invigorating. Other than this, it's The Lord of the Rings battle scenes, especially the one at Helm's Deep (with the kingdom of Rohan ...). This is an interesting topic, and I can't wait to read what the others have to say!
ReplyDeleteHi Claudine, Matilda is a great character! I could never get over the idea of the "chokey" sounds horrible! Great to hear from you : ) ~ F
ReplyDeleteIn the movie "Jack Frost" this kid is bullied and at the end they finally work it out.
ReplyDeleteMatt- What a great scene! :) ~F
DeleteI am still waiting for my bully to get clipped...the evil mayor on Once Upon A Time!!!
ReplyDeletePatty- lol! Hope you get your wish soon. ~F
DeleteI can only think of Tottsie, the very small pampered pooch in 'The new dog' by Barbara Shook Hazen. Tottsie joins a dog walking group and is subjected to all kinds of mean tricks and bully boy (dog) tactics. But when Light-fingered Louie, with a bag full of loot, joins the story, Tottsie saves the day while the other dogs shake and cower. No put-down line as such but the theme of bullies and under’dogs’ really comes across.
ReplyDeleteBarbara- This sounds like an excellent example! Sometimes we just need to know who to cheer for. So glad Tottsie saves the day! ~F
DeleteI really like the scene in James and the Giant Peach when James stands up to this two awful aunts in the the end and then lives in the pit with the giant bugs.
ReplyDeleteElaine- I like that, too. I always felt bad for James that he had to live with those two evil aunts. ~F
DeleteI always liked the scene when Ralphy stands up to Scott Farcus in A Christmas Story. I know it is a fight- but he really puts that bully down.
ReplyDeleteFlex- I love that movie. I think Scott is a bully all of us want to see knocked down a few levels. ~F
