What To Do With A Bad Kitty?

Cats will be cats, but one notorious cat has the reputation as a bad kitty. When Kitty and Puppy create havoc around the baby and mess up the house, they are sent to Diabla Von Gloom's School for Wayward Pets. Kitty and Puppy get geared up for the day, and Kitty's backpack is stuffed full of Love Love Angel Kitten supplies. She couldn't be less thrilled. Even the trip to the school is an education when the bus driver, Uncle Murray, chimes in with his helpful pet tidbits. Diabla Von Gloom greets her new students, and she tries to get to know them. There are some peculiar characters, including a confused Petunia and an evil genius bunny, but Kitty doesn't care. Cats are not exactly into participation. Will Kitty learn her lesson and graduate? What will happen if Petunia finds out Kitty is a cat? Will Dr. Lagomorph take over the world? Is Puppy's drool ever going to be under control? You will have to read this fun, insightful book to find out!

Bad Kitty by Nick Bruel is a unique graphic novel. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the antics of Puppy, Kitty, and the rest of the colorful characters in this story. It's a delightful book, and the illustrations are outstanding. We were lucky enough to meet Mr. Bruel at the 2013 UCONN Children's Book Fair. It was so cool to find out that he uses a dip pen for inking- amazing! I would recommend this book to all those who love animals and enjoy a hearty chuckle. : )

Has anyone else read Bad Kitty or another book by Nick Bruel? What did you think? We would love to hear your thoughts!

Happy reading! ~ F

  3. Diabla Von Gloom...what a great name for a character. This does sound like a fun book considering I'm not having a lot of fun with our boxer puppy who chews up everything in sight. Another great review!

  14. The title Bad Kitty makes me think only of Grumpy Cat. I feel like I'm missing some context with this story. Maybe it's because it's part of a series.
