This week we have walked the twisting, magical path of fairy tales. I have always loved reading these imaginative stories and it was fun to write Monday's Riddle, and for Lizzy and I to put together Top of the Heap. It was great to think about our favorite tales and share them with all of you. Lizzy reviewed The Fairy Tale Detectives: The Sisters Grimm: Book 1 by Michael Buckley, which was a wonderfully unique book. Today, we want to hear from you!
The DMS wants to know: What is your favorite fairy tale?
We told you ours, let's hear yours!

I love the darkness of fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast. Tragic stories always suck me in!
ReplyDeleteHi Megan,
DeleteI love the dark aspects of fairy tales as well-some of the original Grimm stories are brutal, but fascinating! Thanks for stopping by : ) ~ F
Sleeping Beauty. I just love it. Fairy Tales are so fascinating to read.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
DeleteSleeping Beauty is a wonderful fairy tale! Great to hear from you : ) ~ F
Hmmm...I don't think I have a favorite but I love Grimm and Once Upon A Time...
ReplyDeleteHi Patty- it is so hard to pick a favorite, I agree. There's always another great story that pops up in your head! ~ F
DeleteSleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Gingerbread Man...
ReplyDeleteHi momto8, I always think of Shrek when I see the Gingerbread Man- the part with him telling the story of the Muffin Man slays me : ) Thanks for stopping by= great to hear from you! ~ F
DeleteI'm kind of partial to Rumplestiltskin, but Snow White always was fun with those 7 companions, each distinctive.
ReplyDeleteCleemckenzie- Rumplestiltskin is a fascinating one, too! And who could resist Snow White's friends? :) ~F
DeleteGreetings! Wonderful blog, by the way. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a child, my favorite fairy tale was always "Snow White". I adored the beauty and magic of the story, as well as the dynamic characters.
Through the years, however, I've grown quite fond of darker tales, such as "Beauty and the Beast", as Megan mentioned above. But I wouldn't say I necessarily have a 'favorite' story. Each tale is enchanting on its own merit. It's difficult to pinpoint one above the rest!
Thanks for the intriguing question. The nostalgia grips me.
Rachel
Hi Rachel,
DeleteYour comment was fascinating- we're happy to have sparked your imagination! It's nice to meet another person who loves fairy tales as much as we do : ) Thanks for your kind words. ~ F & L
I love fairy tales and mythology! I don't know if I can pick just one story as my favorite. Although I like to try and find stories that aren't so commercialized (like Greek mythology). It's fun to hunt around and find that hidden treasure. Currently I have been reading about Native Americans and their folklore. Interesting indeed!
ReplyDeleteMaryellenherrera- Fairy tales and mythology are two of my favorite things! I agree with you that it is fun to find tales that are off the beaten path. It sound like you are exploring Native American tales right now- I hope you enjoy the journey they will take you on! ~F
DeleteMy favorite is Rapunzel with Cinderella coming in a close second. I collect multiple versions of both.
ReplyDeleteLeslie- Great picks! I always loved the idea of Rapunzel. I haven't seen the new Disney movie about her- but I have heard it is cute. I love that you collect both of them. :) ~f
DeleteWhen I was a little girl, my godmother gave me a beautiful copy of the sleeping beauty, it was all cut-out windows and opening doors. The briers around the castle were covered with pink roses, and tendrils had grown in through the windows and all around the sleeping beauty’s bed.
ReplyDeleteI lost my copy but managed to find another one late last year – I still love it. So the sleeping beauty is my favourite.
Hi Barbara,
DeleteYour copy of Sleeping Beauty sounds magnificent. We are so happy you found a copy of the book that your grandmother had given you. What a treasure : ) ~ F & L
I'm sorry but I can't just pick one: Beauty and the Beast is always romantic, and The Snow Queen just haunts and twirls me in my sleep.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choices, Claudine! ~ F & L
DeleteHeidi- I have to say the changing colored gown is out of this world! I wouldn't mind having one of those! I have also always enjoyed The Ugly Duckling, too. :) ~F
ReplyDeleteI always loved The Twelve Dancing Princesses - magical and romantic.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a magical story- I would love to walk through the different places along the path to the castle. ~ F
DeleteHoly Smokes. How does one pick just ONE? I love them all! Cinderella, Snow White, ooooh Rapunzel, with her beautiful hair....Sorry, there is no way I can pick just one.
ReplyDeleteAngela- lol! I know! There are just so many amazing ones. :) ~L
