Monday's Riddle: A Deep Chameleon...

Hello Riddlers! It's that time again. Can you guess our theme this week? I think they're amazingly beautiful, and mysterious! ; ) ~ F

I move through the depths with my "W" eyes. I've mastered the craft of clever disguise. I've arms like tentacles, and a shell of bone; I'm usually drifting about all alone. My blood may be green, but I'm color blind- though I'm the brightest of my kind. Some of my cousins are funnily perverse, shooting out gases to swim in reverse. I've my own ink, though I don't use it to write- it helps me evade an upcoming fight. I like it here in my garden of blue, listing and swelling on the ocean's cue. If you can guess just what I am, surly you must be a cephalopod fan.

What am I?

I gave you a clue!

I'm in this picture ;)

  1. Sounds like an octopus or a squid to me, but then, I haven't been a very good riddle solver the last few.

  2. Hubby and I have guess it's a octopus.

  3. Green blood? Is it Star Trek's Mr Spock? Seriously though, I think its an octopus.

  4. The ink suggests squid and (I might well be wrong), but I don’t think Octopi have bones? It must be Squid - mustn't it?

  5. A cuttlefish? They have shells of bone, and are masters at camouflage. I'm not sure they use ink, though.

  6. If it has a shell, it isn't a squid or octopus, so I'm guessing like Sherry. A cuttlefish.

  7. Cuttlefish it is. I'm a cephalopod fan. They fascinate me with their inkiness.

  8. I would have said squid, except for the shell part. Great riddle!

  9. Okay, I'm cheating with the other answers--the shell part threw me :) Cuttlefish it is!

  11. If it weren't for the shell, I'd guess octopus.

  12. Does Octopus have green blood? Not too sure...

  13. The shell is the trick here. I've read other comments and the cuttlefish people sound like they know what they're talking about.

  14. My guess is the cuttlefish. At first I thought it was a squid but then I changed my mind. That's okay, right? :)

  15. I'm thinking cuttlefish.

  16. Kraken? Although I think I sense a Beatles reference for Octopus.

I'm not a cephalopod fan, so I don't know! At least I didn't until I read other people's guesses. ;-) But I'm fairly sure that the "cousins" alluded to in the riddle are octopi and squid!
