The DMS Wants to Know!


This week we rang in the new year by looking back at our favorite stories from 2013. We choose The Real Boy by Anne Ursu, Almost Home by Joan Bauer, Nate Rocks the School by Karen Pokras Toz, and The Klipfish Code by Mary CasanovaFriday, we were lucky enough for the chance to chat with Ms. Casanova and it was great to learn more about her story. Today, we want to hear from you!

  1. I hate to say it, but I'm not sure what book was my favorite in 2013. I haven't read any of the ones you mentioned. But, I have read a few written by Richard Peck, I love his books!

  3. I'm sorry to admit I didn't read too many books this year. My fav was Cell by Stephen King. It was a tense, fast paced apocalypse story.

  4. I really loved ONE CRAZY SUMMER, which I read last year. That's the first book that popped into my head.

  5. Too hard to pick one because I loved many. Taken and All Our Yesterdays were two of my favorite debut books. Champion, The Bitter Kingdom, & Crown of Midnight are some of my favorite YA books. Also loved Plastic Polly, The Runaway King,, and Exile in MG books.

  6. I guess my absolute favorite was Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein followed by The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp, Romeo Blue, Navigating Early and Beholding Bee. I did love The Klipfish Code and this week I have The Real Boy to read.

    1. Alex- Great answer! I haven't read Romeo Blue yet- but I loved The Romeo and Juliet Code. We are interviewing Phoebe Stone here tomorrow. We met her and she is so nice! Lots of the books you mentioned are on my list (from reading your blog). :) ~L

  8. Hmm, I read so many good books this year! One that really stands out though is The Spirit Keeper--loved that book! (Oh, and be sure to stop by my blog on Monday--little surprise for you there, hint hint!)

  9. My favorite book this year was entitled...The Thickety...it's not even out yet and I loved it and can not wait for the second book...

  11. My favorite book in 2013 was Savvy by Ingrid Law. I'm sure you girls have read it. It's utterly magical and amazing. A perfect read from start to finish.

  12. The Real Boy is a great pick :D I loved it as well. My favorite book was Cress by Marissa Meyer. <3 Rapunzel re-telling, mostly :D

  13. Uhhh... Do you mean NEW books, or ones you READ in 2013? Hmm... I love any Brian Jacques book, but they are older... I also loved Chupacabra by Roland Smith... and the anniversary edition of Momo:)
