Monday's Riddle! A Storyteller's Magic

Hello Riddlers! Here's the puzzle. Can you guess our theme? I am very excited for this week, as her stories have caught me up in a web of magic. ; ) ~ F

I am a woman with stories to tell. I craft them in time from words in my well. It's filled with magic, and it's deeper than most. I left breadcrumbs behind to help a friend with his host. Letters and pictures, and tales of old- I twist and knead into books that are gold. Follow me if you want to see what's so real about a boy and a tree. You've known me before, you've read about me here. My tales have brought you sorrow and cheer. I've given you wizards, snow queens, and nuts. I've written in slivers, snowballs, and cuts. What do you think? Who might I be? It's all right here for you to see. Look for a phrase that mirrors this verse: the Beast is attractive under the weight of a curse.

Who am I?

I gave you a clue!

"If Jack were here, Hazel would tell him about the chipmunk counselor, and he would draw a cartoon of the chipmunk with big glasses behind a desk and the chipmunk would say, "I'm so sorry Hazel, but you're nuts."

  1. Oh, I thought I was getting better at these, but this one's tough. All I can think of is fairy tales, but that's not a who. Hmmmm.

  4. This one is a toughie & sooo tantalising! A reference to Beauty & the Beast? But I also can't think of a female spinner of fairy tales! I do love your illustration though - she's gorgeous.

  5. Hmmm... I admit I'm stumped. But with all the fairy tale references, it's definitely someone I should be reading. :-)

  7. Wouldn't you know, I did not get the clue, so I searched for some tales & discovered a few. Just like the Grimms were multiple males, more than one woman told fanciful tales. While Charley Perrault wrote the Mother Goose book, sixty-eight tales came from French women. Look! http://crrs.ca/publications/ov09/
That isn't the answer although I did try. I'm dying to know, but for now it's goodbye.
