Monday's Riddle unmasked our theme this week, and Lizzy took us on a power trip with her review of Powerless by Matthew Cody. Friday, we will be hosting an interview with V.L. Burgess, author of the swashbuckling new middle grade book, The Mapmaker's Sons. We will be giving away one advance paperback copy of this great new adventure, which will be hitting bookshelves in October, so be sure to check back!
What could possibly be more fun than losing yourself in the fantastical world of superhero comic books? The stories are amazing and always so intertwined, and it's fun to think about what it would be like to have certain powers to share with a group of friends. We've enjoyed chatting about this together, and are excited to share our thoughts on this topic with all of you!
This week's top of the heap: Super heros! ⚡
Fairday: Another easy one for me! There are so many completely awesome powers, and amazing characters, but of them all- I always pick Storm from the X-Men. I think it would be fantastic to be able to summon up a thunderstorm or raise the wind; call off the rain, or lift the fog. How cool to have Mother Nature on your side! Sometimes I try to control the weather- and, once in a blue moon, I swear it works! : ) ~ F
Lizzy: For me, I have to go with Wonder Woman. I know she's a little old school, but she's also a warrior princess from the Amazon! She had those bullet-deflecting gold bracelets, and the invisible plane. Also, my favorite superhero contraption, the golden lasso, which is unbreakable and forces people to obey and tell the truth when bound with it- how much would you love to have one of those?
Here is the synopsis of the story of the Wonder Woman T.V. series - fascinating! ~ L
Wonder Woman TV Series Synopsis (Wikipedia)

The island is home to the Amazons: beautiful, ageless women with great strength, agility, and intelligence. Amazon princess Diana rescues the handsome Trevor and helps nurse him back to health. Her mother, the amazon queen, decrees that Olympic style games shall be held to select one Amazon to return Trevor back the America, but she forbids her daughter, Diana, the princess, to participate. Diana stated that since she is not allowed to participate, she does not want to be present for the games and will take a retreat to the other side of the island. The games are held with participants wearing numbers, and a blond amazon wearing a mask... read more.

M.A.D- I wanted to be Linda Carter/Wonder Woman, too! I thought she was just awesome. I think you could benefit from having some control over Mother Nature- especially considering all of the nature events you have had going on recently! ~Stephanie
