Thursday, we shared with you a few interesting shadows that we discovered on Top of the Heap. And, Friday, we were lucky enough to chat with Rob Buyea, author of the inspirational middle grade novel, Because of Mr. Terupt. Today, we want to hear from you!

Maybe I'm cheating a bit as mine is not a shady/scary character but it has to be 'Daddy Long Legs' by Jean Webster. My grandmother gave me all the books to read when I was young that she had enjoyed in her youth. I can remember the cover of the version I had was illustrated with an elongated shadow of a man (with of course very long legs!)

ReplyDeleteAlthough, my silly mind's gone blank and I can't think of a single one ...
I know this is weird, but the only shady character I can come up with is Mr. Haney from Green Acres, and that's an old tv series from the 60s ;P
Although, you gotta admit Mr. Haney was the epitome of a *shady* character lol

DeleteMy mind raced through a long line of bad guys from old western movies I love when I first read the question...but they were usually worse than "shady." Then Templeton, the rat from Charlotte's Web came to mind when thinking of children's books I've read more than once. I suppose he qualify's as a tad shady.

DeleteI don't get too creeped out by characters, but I would say that Swverus Snape is presented as both shady and creepy (well, for the most part, if you know what I mean)
ReplyDeleteAlex- Great pick! Snape definitely kept the reader guessing throughout the series and he was not always loyal to those he seemed loyal to- it must have been a stressful life. ~L
DeleteI always found it kind of scary when Peter Pan had his shadow stolen and felt such joy when it was reattached.

ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm going to have to go with either Severus Snape from HP or President Snow from Hunger Games. I love both their characters because (a) they're definitely shady, and yet (b) they've fully got reasons for why they seem so shady! :0)
