Top of the Heap!

This post is special because we are using ourselves as the subjects! Gueh Yanting, Claudine's children's book, My Clearest Me sparked the inspiration for the theme this week. Fairday's Blog! is hosting an interview with this wonderful, new author on Friday April 20th, so be sure to check back. Lizzy also reviewed the book, Savvy by Ingrid Law. Imagine being able to move a mountain by yourself or control the weather. It's interesting to think about what kind of savvy you would want to have. This post was so much fun to put together! After all, what is better than thinking about who you really are and what supernatural powers you would like to have...

This week's top of the heap... Exploring your inner being

Fairday: My clearest me... rhyming verse of course!
(Lizzy swears that I think in rhyme : )
I sway like pussy willows in a warm breeze. I am a shifting wind across the high seas. A babbling brook bubbling by- enjoying it all with a watchful eye. I'm a moss covered rock, a warm, wooly sock, a shimmering light, or the darkest, cold night. In a throne draped in velvet, hung from green vines, I sing and rehearse all of my lines. It is something so special to know who you are, to let yourself go and reach for a star. These things I collect from all that I see, in turn reflect my clearest me.

~ This is my clearest me ~

If I were to choose a savvy for myself, I would want the ability to communicate with birds. I talk to them constantly anyway, so it would be completely awesome if I could understand what they were all squawking about! ~ F

Lizzy: My clearest me...
Looking into yourself and trying to see who you are in your heart is eye-opening. It was such fun to think about my clearest me and my savvy this week. When I looked within myself I realized that I love to spend time with people, but I also can’t get enough of my alone time. When I am alone I reflect on my day, my life, everything going on around me, and I dissect everything. I feel at peace, and it is just like looking out at the most serene natural setting. My clearest me is reflective and contemplative- calm and relaxed.

My savvy goes right along with who I am because I would be able to transport myself anywhere in the world, just by thinking about it. Imagine the joy and wonder of being able to be wherever you want, in a heartbeat. The solitude of the Grand Canyon… the rain forest… the quiet of my house… the beach… the possibilities are endless! I could have a blast with this savvy and I could find the best spots to sit back and reflect.

  1. Loved the sharing of your clearest selves. It is a special experience to finally want to see yourself clearer. :) Communicating with animals would be such a gift. Imagine speaking with giraffes and chatting with cats and elephants. And teleportation (wonder if this is the right term?) would save us so much time!

    1. Hi Claudine,
I would love, love, love to be able to chat with my cat, Bill. I always think his voice would sound like Snape's- lol! I have been waiting for the whole teleportation thing to come about into everyday use- how cool would that be! ~ F

  2. What a lovely, thoughtful & thought provoking topic! And such lovely expressions of your clearest selves. (have heard great things about Savvy - thinking my daughter would love it!)

  3. Super exercise, cutting through the layers to see what's in the middle. My savvy would be to travel in outer space without a ship or space suit. I'd love to slide around the rings of Saturn.

    1. Hi Leslie,
That would be awesome- the first stop for me would be Venus. I know it's a turbulent ball of exploding, toxic gasses, but I still envision it to look like a tropical paradise, no matter what science tells me! ~ F

  6. I can relate to you both - too often, I speak to animals, domesticated or not (I once warned a snake to keep its distance, and luckily for us both, it listened!). I also love spending time with other people, but alone time is writing time, which I cherish.

    1. Cate- It is always nice to meet a kindred spirit. I talk to animals all the time and think that I know what they saying back (but I would love to know for sure). :) ~F

  7. I want that Savvy too – I would be able to pop to Australia whenever I wanted – say hello to my little granddaughter and be home in time for tea! What a great idea.

I talk to birds – I just can’t help myself. I love it when they stop what they are doing and turn their heads on one side as if really trying to listen.

    Great post.

    1. Barbara- That would be wonderful if you could pop over and see your granddaughter whenever you wanted! I am sure she would love that. I kow exactly what you are talking about when you mentioned birds turning their heads and seeming to listen. :)

  8. You always do the best posts. I loved the rhyming. Nice rhythm. My savvy me? I'd love to speak tree language. Imagine what trees could tell us.
