Fairday's Riddle: Token A Ride...

Hello, Riddlers! Can you guess our theme? In the past they made me nervous, but now I'm much braver while going through. ~F

Come to pass, bring a token; fingers crossed it won't be broken. North, South, East, West; which direction suits you best? This stop is on the way, but to get through you must pay.  

What am I referring to? Stop by Friday for the answer.
