Monday's Riddle: Second Skin...


Hello Riddlers! It's that time again. Here's the puzzle. Can you guess our theme? I've a few that I just love. ; ) ~ F

I'm something that you'll wear out. I work for them all, both tall and stout. A kind of shield when in need of protection; a shell to hide from nature's projection. I can be fancy or I can be dull, stitched in bright colors or gray as a gull. Sometimes I'm slick, but I can be heavy- it all depends on the fill of the levee. Should you feel that you've got a shiver, I'm the thing that will surly deliver. For, I'm something that's been around for forever, holding you close in all kinds of weather. 

 What am I?

    I was at first thinking of skin but reading the whole riddle also think its a coat or perhaps a wooly jumper.

    I have a natural coat, but don't want to gloat. Fur sure, I say in my dog hairs way.

    Why does everyone think coat? I don't wear coats in all kinds of weather... or maybe I'm thinking about it too much.
