Nobody's Home...

Tragedy struck Nobody Owens' family when he was just a baby. In a twist of fate, he had managed to escape certain death. Unknowingly, he then crawled right into another kind. Now, behind lonely gates of an old cemetery is where he calls home. He spends his days and nights with his ghostly family among rows of headstones. Although, growing up in a cemetery does have its advantages. Bod, which is short for Nobody, learns some cool graveyard tricks, like how to fade and walk through walls. Plus, there's always Silas. Silas is Bod's friend and guardian- and because Silas isn't exactly dead, he's able to leave the graveyard to get things that Bod needs, like food and clothing. When Bod makes his first living friend, his invisible world shifts. He starts to realize that there's more to the story than he could have ever imagined. On a hunt for the Sleer's treasure, Bod uses his intuition and begins to unravel the mystery. Will Bod face the sleer? What will happen if he leaves the cemetery? Where does Silas go? What is it about Miss Lupescu? Who will come to the Danse Macabre? You will have to read this book to find out!

Neil Gaiman is one of my absolute favorite authors. This story has it all: ghouls, ghosts, twists, and suspense! It's a perfect read to get you in the mood for Halloween. The story captivates throughout, feeding your need to find out what happens next. I would recommend this book to kids in fifth grade and up. It does have certain scary elements to it, but they add to the quirky flavor of this peculiar story.
