Monday's Riddle! Rooted in Magic...

Hello Riddlers! It's that time again- can you guess the theme this week? I have seen one or two of these before. I'm sure of it! ; ) ~ F

For a long time they've stood in place- silently still, wearing a clever face. Twisted fingers reach and cross, delivering goods from under the moss. Comfy homes for gnomes and fairies- a place, perhaps, where you might find cherries. A shadowy shade that whispers stories, secrets about fortunes and tell- tale glories. A bark with no bite, these things of old- stonily sturdy; weather hot or cold. They fall in a circle, turning green, brown, or red, then hide in their sleep- so you'd think they were dead. But alas, there's a few still rooted in magic- to lose them to whimsy would surly be tragic. Remember this rhyme when you're standing below, look up at once, and then you'll know.

What am I referring to?

I gave you a clue!

  2. I was thinking a fairy ring but then read 'They fall in a circle' so I'm now thinking toadstools OR because of the line 'A bark with no bite, these things of old- stonily sturdy' I'm thinking a tree. No, I'm sticking with a toadstool.

Trees? The lines suggest different parts of a tree to me.

  4. Trees are my guess, though the circle thing has me confused :)

  5. I'm with the others. Trees. They have all the requisites as the answer: rooted, sometimes laden with cherries, home to woodland creatures, bark but doesn't bite and all those seasonal colors.

  6. Trees or leaves.
Roots is a good guess as well.

  10. I have no idea, I'm terrible at riddles. Gollum would have eaten me for sure. I can't wait to see the answer though

  12. I'm thinking leaves. They hide cherries, give you shade, and they fall in autumn in red, orange, and yellow, and get covered in a blanket of snow
