Top of the Heap!

Monday's Riddle slipped us into the topic of time- traveling through it, that is! We had a blast being a part of the Genre Favorites Blogfest hosted by Alex Cavanaugh, which was the inspiration to spend some time at Azkaban over the next few days. We chose fantasy as our favorite genre, and Lizzy reviewed one of our top picks of all time, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling. A new Margo's Musings is coming up on Friday, and Saturday, we look forward to hearing your thoughts on The DMS Wants to Know.

Time turning is a fascinating idea to think about. Where would you go? What would you do? There are some pretty heavy rules to follow, but we think it's worth the risk!

This week's top of the heap: Fabulous times to turn to ⌛

Fairday: This one is easy for me because I've given it a lot of thought over the years. I would love to see my mom and dad back when they were dating in college. It's so bizarre to picture the scene, and they talk about it all the time. The millions of pictures they show to Margo and me are hilarious! I would use the time turner to take me back to the day they proclaimed their love for one another at a Dave Matthews Concert. The story is extremely entertaining when my dad tells it, and I can see, from the look on their faces, that it must have been quite a magical evening : ) ~ F

Lizzy: I have also given time turning a lot of thought ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban. I think it would be fascinating to travel back to when I was a baby. What on Earth was I thinking about then? LOL! I seriously have no idea. Wouldn't it be amazing to spy on yourself and try to remember what it felt like to be so new? ~ L

  1. Such a fun topic!!! And so many poignant reasons for wanting to *turn time* (I know I would lol).

Something else, if there actually were a gadget to manipulate time, I think it would become a VERY addictive pastime!! (like Star Trek's Holodeck) haha

People would be popping in & out of various moments like Jiffy Pop ... we'd probably have to invent all kinds of safeguards and maybe even have *time turning traffic cops* ;D

  3. Now that is a curious topic to consider. To be honest I'm not 100 percent sure where I would want to travel to in time, maybe back to when my mother was a teenager... from what I understand she was a bit more outgoing than I ever was! ^_^

    1. Hi GMR, Wouldn't it be so neat to see your parents when they were younger??? It's like meeting someone for the first time, but feeling like you've known them forever. Thanks so much for stopping by to share your thoughts with us! Great to hear from you : ) ~ F

  4. Your parents look very free and happy. Fun post! I think it would be interesting to time travel back to the days of the flappers in the 1920's. When I was growing up my aunts had some pretty fancy clothes stuffed in their closets, and it seemed like they shared some interesting secrets about those strange days.

    1. Elaine- I agree with you that my parents look so happy and free. Sometimes it is hard for me to imagine them before they were my parents. Going back to flapper times would sure be interesting! ~F

  5. Oh, that's a hard one. My first thoughts Egypt as the pyramids were being built. But then I'd quite like to go back to spend the day with a distant relative of mind who living in York spent her days working at home making confectionary.

    1. Petty- You picked two very fascinating times. It would be awesome to see how the pyramids were built, but it would be so special to meet a distant relative, too! ~L

  7. One thing I've learned from reading about time travel is it is extremely risky. With my luck, I'd create too many waves that affect the future. I'd better keep my trouble-making self in the present. ;) Great question and I love your answers!

    1. Cheles Bells- You brought up an excellent point. Time travel could certainly be dangerous. I can see why you want to stay in the present! ~F

  8. I'm struggling to stay in the moment these days. :-) However, if were to travel through time, I think I'd choose far into the future. I'd love to see if we learned how to be a wonderful species.

It's always so wonderful to speculate on other times, isn't it?

    1. Lee- It is important to try to stay in the moment and enjoy every second. How cool that you would go into the future. It is always so interesting to think about what life will be like in years and decades to come. ~F

  9. When I was very much younger there were different periods of history (all hundreds of years ago) I desperately wanted to travel back to see. Now I'm older I think its better to imagine them as I think they were rather than be confronted with the reality!

    1. Sharon- Great point! We all have visions of times in history in our minds, but seeing them first hand would probably be very different! ~F

  10. There are so many wonderful people in history that I would love to meet. Among them, most certainly, would be Mark Twain.
