What Will Happen to the Grace Children?

Twins Jared and Simon, along with their older sister, Mallory, aren’t overly thrilled with the decrepit mansion they move into with their mom. But times are tough and Great Aunt Lucinda was sent away to an asylum, so her house was vacant. It isn’t long before mysterious occurrences begin to happen within the crumbling walls. Jared is blamed for a variety of odd things and he is unhappy as he tries to proclaim his innocence. When an old book with hand-drawn pictures is discovered the children are amazed by the strange creatures it shows. Will this book help to explain the odd things that have been happening? Is it possible that more trouble will come because of it? Just what is in store for the Grace children and their new home?

I LOVED The Field Guide: The Spiderwick Chronicles: Book 1 by Holly Black or Tony DiTerlizzi! I read it in one day and had to go out and get the rest of the books in the series. Not only is the story fast paced and intriguing, but there are fascinating pictures that help enhance the story. I was on the edge of my seat as the Grace children began exploring a world that wasn’t welcoming to them. I find fantasy creatures to be very intriguing and the authors won me over with their use of rhymes. I highly recommend this book to kids and adults of all ages (as long as you aren’t too scared of monsters/creatures). The only bad thing about the books is that you need to get them all because just like potato chips, you can’t stop at just one! I can’t wait to watch the movie version and compare it to the one that I have in my mind after reading this amazing series.

Has anyone else read The Field Guide: The Spiderwick Chronicles: Book 1 by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi? Or have you read another book by Holly Black or Tony DiTerlizzi?

Happy Reading! ~L

  7. I absolutely LOVE these! We're currently reading Lemony Snicket's work. Have you read any of his books? I love them just as much as Spiderwick--which means a ton :0)

  8. Holly Black is amazing! I love White Cat and Red Glove, YA books. Amazing. Her fairy books are very dark, but good too. Though the White Cat books are definitely my faves!!

  9. You're going to think me silly, but I've known of this book but can't read it because 'spider' is in the title. Sadly, spiders and I do not get along. Maybe I should get the e-book, then I won't be holding the word 'spider'.

    1. Donna- I can understand being turned off by something. :) Spiders don't play a big role n the books. You should definitely get the series on your ebook. You will enjoy them- especially if you like Fablehaven!
