Top of the Heap!

I am so excited to put up this post : ) AND, I learned something! This week we are sticking to the topic of music and the wonderful connection that we have with it. So here's what it's all about...

Orinoco Flow preformed by the Celtic Women always gives me the chills. I find it to be soothing and powerful all at the same time. I always see a sunset over open water in my minds eye. I can feel the energy of the instruments and the women's voices, as they seamlessly twist together in harmony. It's a really beautiful song, and I am excited to share it with all of you! ~ F

ALSO, turns out that Orinoco Flow refers to the Orinoco River in South America.

Let me sail, let me sail, let the Orinoco flow Let me reach, let me beach on the shores of Tripoli. Let me sail, let me sail, let me crash upon your shore. Let me reach, let me beach far beyond the Yellow Sea. Sail away...

I found this amazing picture online. It looks exactly like how the song makes me feel. Check out the artwork at The David Kantey Art Gallery if you get a chance. It's Beautious!

The video is mesmerizing. The Celtic Women really do the song justice. Check out the Orinoco River on National Geographic...

I saw II Volo on American Idol last year and I was instantly captivated by their music. Although they sing in Italian and I don't know exactly what they are saying, I feel their emotions in their songs.  Each of their voices is unique and amazing. What powerful tenor voices and they are so young! I put them on top for sure! Whenever I watch them sing I break out in a wide smile because they look like they are having such fun. ~ L (I have to add that, seriously, these guys are amazing! ~ F)

    1. We are interviewing Samantha Hale this Friday. She is the author of Sparkle's Song, which is a children's picture book about music. I will be posting a video that she helped create about the connection between people and music- it's really interesting to hear what others have to say about it. Thanks for coming by! ~ F

  6. Hi Elisa! Both groups are really amazing, I practically fell out of my chair when Lizzy played the American Idol clip of II Volo- they look like their having such a fab time and their voices are just spectacular, you don't even have to know what they are saying, it could be about anything, but probably love... what else could sound like that! Great to hear from you! ~ F
