This weeks Top of the Heap: Survival Skills
In honor of Katniss Everdeen, I believe that having skills with a bow and arrow would give you a great advantage in a survival situation. Not only would you have the ability and expertise to hunt, (stealth, patience, agility...) but you also have several tools as well. The arrows can also be skewers, spears, knives, stakes, basically they would come in pretty handy. The bow can also be used as a bracket for some kind of netting that could be used to catch fish. Plus, it's made of wood, so it burns- just like the girl on fire : ) ~ F
Artemis: The goddess of hunt and lady of the moon renowned for her superior archery. Known as a fierce hunter as well as protector, Artemis is one of the major Greek goddesses. She is known as the goddess of the night, the huntress.

As long as I have perfect vision, I would want to have Rue’s skills for survival. I would love to be able to flit from tree to tree unnoticed. I am not graceful, so it would be great to have such a different skill from how I normally am. Also, it would be an amazing feeling to fly through the air. Rue was also quick and clever! Moving from tree to tree is non-violent which I like the idea of as well. ~L

Interesting. Not sure what skill I would want or need most to survive...I think I'd need to have the skill of innovation. That way, I could construct clothing by weaving leaves and grasses together, and construct a shelter out of branches and leaves. I saw someone build an impressive lean to on a survival show once.

DeleteAwesome post! I think this movie looks great. I would want the ability to make fire because I could keep warm, cook food and keep animals away.
ReplyDeleteI agree- The Hunger Games movie looks fabulous. So true that making a good fire would be a helpful skill. Fire has many uses!
DeleteRue's lullaby is beautiful. I would like to be invisible or stealth. Then no one could catch me because they wouldn't be able to see or hear me.

I have to agree with the bow and arrow. Good choice. Shooting it and hitting your target would take a lot of practice, but I think it is a most efficient weapon.
