The DMS Wants to Know!

Monday's Riddle put the idea of fundraising into our heads, and Marcus's review of Nate Rocks the School by Karen Pokras Toz was excellent. Thursday on Top of the Heap, we enjoyed sharing two fun ways to raise money with you, and Friday, it was great to find out what the Nate Rockledge from the Nate Rock series thinks about things in our first official meeting of the Character Book Club. Today, we want to hear your thoughts!

The DMS wants to know:
What is a unique fundraising idea that you know about?

We told you ours. Now, let's hear yours!

  1. Collect old wine bottles with screw tops. After washing and sterilising them fill so many with water the rest with wine. Wrap the bottles so that no one can see the contents. Write a poem (I can't remember the actual one I saw but as it was at a church fayre it was something about the vicar turning so many bottles of water into wine) and hey presto. Of all the stalls this one sold out the fastest.

  2. Hmmm... I don't know of anything really unique. We tend to do raffles and 50/50 draws. Love Petty Witter's answer :)

  3. I know I've seen some creative ideas, but heck if I can remember any at the moment! Petty Witter's idea sounds really fun :) I know I've seen lots of craft fairs around here, too.

  6. Raffles always are a good standby, and I think Petty's idea is great, especially linked to the church with the water into wine idea Anything with magic or surprises or, hey, riddles at a so much per guess for a prize. How about that?

  7. Guess the weight of the cake - not unique but most people are willing to give it a try. For those wanting a more energetic way of generating funds a spot of welly wanging (throwing wellington boots) is always fun.

    1. Barbara- I have never had to guess the weight of a cake. I think it might be hard- but it sounds fun! I want to try the welly wanging as soon as possible! Thanks for sharing. :) ~L

  8. I don't know of any! I am terrible at fund raising...I only know raffles and cake walks and silent auctions...and guessing jelly beans in a jar!
