The DMS Wants to Know!

With everything going on so close to home this weekend we postponed The DMS Wants to Know for a day while we took time to grieve for the innocent lives that were lost.  Our hearts go out to the families, teachers, and students in Newtown, CT.

Monday's Riddle made us think about the forces of good vs. evil, and Lizzy's review of Jack Templar Monster Hunter by Jeff Gunhus took us right into the battle between monsters and monster hunters. For Top of the Heap we told you about our favorite battle between The Order of the Phoenix and The Death Eaters.  Friday was exciting with our author interview and giveaway with Jeff Gunhus. Don't forget that the Drawing Contest is happening all month long, so be sure to enter for your chance to win a fabulous book prize pack.  Also, The End of the World Giveaway Hop will run from December 14th-21st, so, join in the fun and enter for your chance to win a copy of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, and a signed, hardcover edition of the middle grade novel, The Secret DMS Files of Fairday Morrow by J. Haight & S. Robinson. Two great books to have with you if you find yourself lost!  Today we want to hear from you!

The DMS wants to know:  What is your favorite battle between good and evil?

We told you ours. Now, tell us yours!

  1. Well, I have to say Harry Potter again! :) But also any battle that all of us fight every day within ourselves. Sometimes it's just very hard to do the right (good) thing. You know what I mean. :)

  2. I would say the final battle at the end of LOTR's Return of the King. Just epic.

  3. <3 Weeell.. Peeking at the other comment, I would have to say Lord of the Rings :D Not any special one, though. Because they are ALL amazing. But, maybe the battle between good Smeagol and bad Gollum? :D Sigh. I adored him so much. <3 Hih ;D I do love Harry Potter too, though :)

  4. I love the idea of an unlikely hero, and The Lord of The Rings was a favorite for a long time. The notion that the most powerful wizards and men succumbed to the spell of the ring but a lowly hobbit succeeded in destroying it - gotta love that.

  5. Prayers to all who were affected by the recent events. It breaks my heart to even think about it.

Harry Potter is such a great example of good vs. evil, especially since Harry's connection to Voldemort makes him have good and evil inside him.

  6. I'm posting again because I'm not sure if my last comment went through: It is heartbreaking news and my thoughts are with the families of the victims. I don't know if the horrors of the world can ever be clearly explained ...

As to your question, my favourite battle would also be from The Lord of the Rings - the one at Helms Deep.

  7. In light of this tragic event,I can't even think of a favorite story about the battle between good and evil. It makes one feel so helpless...but we can pray that this kind of evil will someday be overcome by the good in humanity.

  9. I'll chime in and I have never found a better battle between good and evil than the Lord of the Rings as well. Although, just to be a bit different, I'll reference my all time favorite book Watership Down and say the battle between Hazel & co. vs. General Woundwart ranks at the top too! Great question!

  11. I couldn't really say but I love a battle of the minds. When a child outdoes a villain and thwarts their plans of evil. You can't really compete with the last battle in Harry Potter anyways.
