The DMS Wants to Know!

A chilly wind blew through Fairday’s Blog starting with Monday's Riddle which set the stage for a week full of Halloween frights! We shared a review of our favorite holiday read, Cinderella Skeleton by Rob San Souci, and we had fun telling you about some of our Halloween Chills and Thrills. Friday, turned out to be spooky after learning that we would be interviewing Spider instead of Robert San Souci.  Luckily we were able to stay out of that web. Being a part of the Something Wicked Comes Halloween Blog Tour has been thrilling. You still have a few more hours left to enter for your chance to win a copy of the beautifully written and illustrated Cinderella Skeleton.  All week we have enjoyed brewing up a little more Halloween magic. We can't wait for the rest of the month!

The DMS wants to know: What is your favorite part about Halloween?

We told you ours. Now, let's hear yours!

  2. I love watching the little kids all dressed up excitedly going door to door. When my son was very small he dressed up as Harry Potter - I can still remember how cute he looked and how much fun he had!

  4. Halloween is a lot like writing. We get to be different people for a time. That's one reason I started writing. *waving a peace sign*

  7. I think the obvious answer is the candy but I love dressing up and walking around getting candy. I like being tired, having my feet hurt, and coming home and sorting through the goods. I wish I could dress up again because I wasn't very imaginative and was almost always a witch or something dumb. I would have been robin hood, robin, a zombie, a dead girl, a storybook character for sure, anything really.

    1. Adriana- What a great comment! Candy and dressing up are such fun. It is amazing how tired you can feel at the end of all the excitment. It is all worth it. I need to start jotting down good ideas during the year so that I don't try to pull something together at the last minute. ~L

  8. I don't really celebrate it over here but I do love how creative people are with the costumes. I'd also have to add that ghostly tales are very, very enjoyable!

  9. We don't celebrate Halloween in India. But I love to read news, articles and snippets about what people who do celebrate Hallowwen did. Nowadays, there are tons of Halloween parties taking place in Indian bars and clubs. I don't go but I like to see the pictures because I love looking at how people dress up for the celebration! :)

  11. The trees changing, cooler temps, fun costumes and ...
    LOTS OF CANDY! <3

But, BEST of all, is going T-Ping! Not that I would ever do such a thing (heh heh). Growing up in Fla I'd never seen nor heard of anyone going out *toilet papering* their friends, neighbors and family. However, I moved up north, arriving here in Illinois Nov. 1st. And I was totally blown away seeing everyone's lawns & trees draped with toilet paper streamers.

I thought it was the coolest thing ever! Sneaking through the crunchy leaves on the ground, red-cheeked from the night-chill, and heaving those rolls way up to the top of the tallest trees for all you are worth! Then, hot chocolate for everybody afterwards lol ;D

    1. M.A.D.- I loves the trees changing, the brisk air, costumes, and candy, too! Of course, T-Ping is big here, too. I think it must be certain states that people get into it. How interesting that it wasn't big in Florida. In order to not get in trouble- one of my friend's parents lets us TP their whole house and yard. We have a time limit and try to spread more TP than the year before. Even though we know we are allowed- it is SO much fun. ~L

  14. We love it when we are visited by lots of little ghouls and ghosties at Halloween. Now that our grandchildren live in Australia we miss out on a lot of the fun, so those knocks on the door are always very welcome. We make sure there is a big bowl of sweets and treats so that everyone leaves with something nice.

    1. Barbara- How fun! I am sorry you don't get to see your granchildren on Halloween. I don't know if they dress up in Australia- but maybe they could trick or treat with you via Skype and you could mail them some cany. :) ~L

  15. Not as big here in England as elsewhere, if I'm being totally honest my favourite part is all the leftover sweets. We always buy enough to feed a small army and as we usually don't get that many trick or treaters we are always left with loads of fun stuff.

    1. Petty- I love the leftover sweets, too! I like to buy my favorite kinds- so that I can enjoy those once the trick-or-treaters have come and gone. :) ~Stephanie
