The DMS Wants to Know!

Fizzgig
This week the theme has been monsters and spooky stories. I was inspired by The Fearsome Beastie, a terrifying tale about a hungry beastie and a formidable grandma with an axe. The DMS was able to chat with Giles Paley- Phillips and learn more about the story behind his story. We shared with you two of our favorite spooky stories/monsters on the Top of the Heap. I loved the mystery and suspense, not to mention the awesome illustrations, of Edward Gorey and Lizzy talked about the magical creatures from Fablehaven. These are both such unique and wondrous worlds to visit, even if you just want to observe them from afar ! Today, we want to hear what you guys have to say!

The DMS wants to know: What is a tale of terror or particular monster that you really connect with?

I also have an honarable mention as far as monsters go... Fizzgig from The Dark Crystal. I just watched it last night, and it is still one of my all time favorite movies. The story is just amazing and he is SO cute!

  1. I like scary movies a lot- A Nightmare on Elm Street is a favorite. I like the first one a lot because it takes place in your dreams- so anything can happen. Jaws and Godzilla are also favorites.

  4. Cujo was the first novel that I ever read of Stephen King's and to this day it still kinda haunts me... every now and then I imagine some kind of weird cujo-like monster in my closet! Don't think I'll ever forget it...

  7. When I was a little girl family holidays were spent in Cornwall. I have two very vivid memories from those days - one is Cornish pasties (I love them), and the other is an old Cornish prayer "From ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties, and things that go bump in the night, good Lord deliver us." Scary words when you're small. I was always glad when it was time to go home and leave the ghoulies and ghosties behind!

    1. Barbara- I can see why those words scared you! :) At least part of your vivid memories are about things you love!

  9. Too too cute for a monster. Alas, but I don't connect with a monster. I've never done well with scary stories.
