Monday's Riddle! An Eagle May Soar...

Here we go again! Think 1784  ~ F

Forget the Eagle, Ben Franklin told the people. For a thief cannot show the way; a coward too lazy to get his prey. He knew of another whose courage rang true; whose colors reflected the red, white, and blue. Though a bit silly and sometimes vain, it is a symbol of strength and honor just the same. Brave and loyal, brilliant and bold, representing truth and justice, is what he told.

What is the symbol for America Ben Franklin suggested instead of the Eagle?

Check back later if you need to get a clue...

  2. I want to google this! But I won't . . . Is it a peacock? Maybe Donna is right though. That would be timely of you if it was a turkey :0)

    This is so fun.

  3. I remember an old musical called 1776. There is a song in which John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin are singing about what animal will represent the new America. Adams wants the eagle, Jefferson wants the dove and Frankin wants the turkey.
